According to the 28-year-old Tanzanian based in Machakos county, he started his Jawabu studio way back in 2013 in Arusha, Tanzania before shifting to Machakos town in 2014.

"I started playing instruments when I was only 10 years old. So my love for music and instruments made me start this recording label by the name Jawabu though it was not easy," Basil said.

In an interview with Hivisasa on Tuesday, the producer cum instrumentalist revealed how he went through numerous challenges; from lack of funds to sleep hungry, but kept his dream alive before becoming a star.

"I have gone through a lot before rising to who I am today. I slept angry many times and even lacked money to pay rent for my studio and house. It was not a walk in the park but I thank God I made it this far," he said noting that although challenges still come his way, his hard work and patience has kept him going and made him get into the limelight, which every bit he enjoys.

The 'Kioo' singer has produced major hits like 'Kidomodomo' by Oliver Wema, 'Watangonja sana' by Rose Muhando ft Jose Drama and 'Kelele' by Stephen Kasolo.

He has also worked with artists like Justus Myello, Wilberforce Musyoka, Goodluck Jonathan, Ringtone, Caxton Mutambuki among others.

Basil has also helped many youths grow their musical talent in Ukambani counties of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni.

"I have worked with countless artists. I have also collaborated with Rose Muhando in several songs like 'cinema' among other artists," he says.

The producer says he is currently working on his new song 'Hajachoka na wewe'.
