Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor has refuted claims of pocketing Sh10,000 to shoot down sugar report on Thursday last week.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament buildings in Nairobi on Thursday, Noor said that reports linking her to the bribery are false.

She said that she is not aware of any bribery,  adding that some people are out to mudslide her.

“I am shocked that some people are dragging my name to allegations bribery in Parliament,” she said.

Noor said that she has morals adding that she has never solicited or taken a bribe.

The MP said that some people want to taint her leadership for political gains. She supported calls for investigations into the bribery allegations.

“The relevant agencies must investigate and take action on the people they will fund culpable,” she added.

Several MPs among the Wajir Woman representative Fatuma Gedi are on the spot over bribery allegations.

There are claims that Gedi allegedly facilitated the bribery which some MPs claim was issued out in toilets.

Gedi has since refuted the claims terming them false.

The MP says that she is not aware that some of her colleagues took bribes to reject the sugar report.
