A 33-year-old man who has been imposing himself as an administration police officer has been apprehended.
The suspect identified as Joshua Moruri Nyakundi was arrested from his hideout in Nyatieko area, Mosocho in Kisii County.
Confirming the incident area chief Lawrence Omari claimed that Nyakundi hails from Marani area but, he has been living in Nyatieko.
"The suspect has been asking chang'aa sellers to give him bribe on grounds that he is a police officer. I launched a probe until I discovered he was a conman and a police impostor," said Omari.
The chief said immediately he alerted Nyakoe police officers who acted swiftly to arrest the criminal.
"Police stormed the suspect's house where they arrested him. Twenty (20) rolls of bhang were also recovered from the house. He was taken to Kisii Police station from where he will be arraigned in court on Monday," said the chief.
He asked members of the public to report anyone they suspect is imposing him or herself to be a police officer.
Omari urged residents to venture into legal businesses.
"Locals must know engaging dubious businesses and dealings will land them in trouble. The law cuts across and no one will be spared," he added.
