Controversial blogger Robert Alai now alleges that ODM leader Raila Odinga greatly benefitted from the said Sh400 fake gold scandal.
Alai claimed that Raila received Sh50 million from the scammers in Dubai, but would later give the participants away after receiving his share.
Alai further alleged that Raila personally travelled to Dubai to receive the money and was later flown to the Kisumu International Airport from Dubai once the deal was complete.
He said that Raila was well aware that the deal pitting local dealers and members of the Dubai royal family was fraudulent, only to raise the flag once his portion was given.
"Dubai Gold scam stalled because Raila received Ksh 50 million from the scammers. He was flown from Kisumu on a chartered flight and he received the money personally in Dubai. He realised later that it was a scam and decided to snitch after getting the money," he tweeted.
However, Raila has since come out to clear his name, claiming that he was the whistleblower in the entire issue.
Last month, he said that he was the one who warned the Dubai ruler that he was being conned by persons mimicking interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Also dragged into the issue are the names of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and controversial businessman Zahir Jhanda.
