Naftali Kinuthia, a man suspected to have killed a Moi University student Ivy Wangeci was on Monday arraigned before an Eldoret High Court.
Kinuthia appeared before Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Nichodemus Moseti but he did not take a plea as the prosecution requested for more days to conclude their investigations.
The court allowed the prosecution application and directed that the suspect is detained at the Naiberi Police station.
The lawyer representing the suspect Mbiyu Kamau had also requested the court to allow his client to undergo further medical treatment following injuries he suffered after facing a mob justice immediately he allegedly committed the crime last Tuesday.
“I further order that the suspect is taken to hospital at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) on the 18th day of April and 23rd day of April 2019 for review and treatment," directed the Magistrate.
Kinuthia who has been receiving treatment at MTRH was discharged on Friday.
When he appeared in court, he had bandages on his left hand and scars on his head with the lawyer telling the court that he still has unhealed scars and was complaining of chest pains.
The suspect is expected to be back in court on April 30 for further directions.
