With various political analysts speculating on Deputy President William Ruto's possible running mate come 2022, Mt Kenya region remains the top centre of focus, given their numbers that will obviously translate to votes.
On Saturday, a political analyst from the region sparked heated debate after he claimed that Murang'a governor Mwangi wa Iria is the man to realize Ruto's State House dream.
Speaking at Iganjo FM, a Kikuyu vernacular radio station, the political analyst Gathomi Munyora revealed that he was aware that Ruto was in talks with the flashy governor to be his running mate.
"I can say this with certainty. Ruto is already in talks with Governor Wa Iria, and signs are that he will agree to back him," Gathomi claimed.
Asked of how he came to know of the developments, the political analyst revealed that he has accomplices within the governor's circles who are part of the team working to seal the deal.
"I cannot just wake up to make the claims from nowhere. I have a reliable source within the governor's circles. Just watch and you'll prove me right," Gathomi added with finality.
Although the analyst's allegations cannot be consumed with finality, all eyes still remain set as to who the Deputy President will pick come 2022 campaigns.
