The officer was busted by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers after a tip-off from the bar owner who is said to have set him up.

The drama that led to the arrest started when the said officer demanded for Sh50, 000 bribe from the bar owner in order to save her from the ‘pain of facing’ charges of operating a bar without the relevant permit.

The woman is said to have convinced the officer to take up Sh15, 000 and lured him to where she was. No sooner had he arrived than he was pounced on by EACC officers who the woman had initially alerted.

Confirming the arrest the EACC Western Kenya regional manager Mr Ignatius Wekesa said that no one including government officials will be spared in the war against graft.

“No national or county government officers will be spared if caught taking bribes,” warned Mr Wekesa.

He said the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The arrest comes a few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta insisted that the war against graft will go on, despite opposition from a section of various political leaders.

Speaking during the official opening of the 6th devolution conference in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday, the Head of State urged Kenyans of good will to support him in the war against corruption.
