Residents of Gesabakwa village in Gucha Sub-County, Kisii County, were left in shock after a 22-year-old man hanged himself on Wednesday morning.
In an exclusive interview, area Nyumba Kumi official Peter Monari said that the deceased Richard Morara Ombeta has been having marital issues with his wife.
"Ombeta has been complaining about his wife's rudeness. He recently reported to us that the wife beat him up something we suspect made him take his own life," said Ombeta.
Speaking at his office on Wednesday, Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet confirmed the incident saying the body of Ombeta was found hanging from an avocado tree in his compound.
He said the deceased left behind a note explaining why he committed suicide.
"In the suicide note the deceased said he was tired of his wife's stubbornness, rudeness and continued marriage wrangles," he said.
Mr Kibet raised concerns over the high number of cases of men taking their own lives and challenged married couples to seek guidance from elders and church leaders.
"The body of the deceased was moved to Tabaka Mission Hospital awaiting burial," noted Kibet.
