Former ministers Martha Karua, Peter Kenneth and Kilemi Mwiria hit back at MPs from Mt Kenya who have been castigating President Uhuru Kenyatta over alleged marginalisation of the region.

And at Citizen TV on Wednesday, Kabogo said the organisers of the conference only notified him long after he had embarked on his daily adventure.

"We have a schedule whenever we wake up. You just can't drag me along without prior arrangements. I was pretty much aware of it because they notified me to be honest.

"However, you just can't tell me at 10am long after I've gotten into my other duties. That's why I decided to carry on with what I'd started," he said.

Sources say the press conference by senior leadership from Mt Kenya was organised by State House to counter the Washenzi remarks by President Uhuru Kenyatta which had been misinterpreted by his critics.

Uhuru dismissed a section of leaders from the region who claimed that he was sidelining them in development issues despite the region voting for him overwhelmingly.

Among those who have openly questioned Uhuru's government are Moses Kuria of Gatundu South and Kimani Ngunjiri of Bahati constituency.
