On Jun 22, 2016, Deputy President William Ruto said he was surprised to see former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka seated on the roadside.
Ruto said he was perplexed to see the Wiper leader join his NASA co-principals among other opposition leaders in sitting on the Road in Nairobi city in the name of fighting for the country's liberation from 'poor' governance.
The deputy president said he did not believe his eyes that a respected leader like Kalonzo could sit on the road.
He later told the Ukambani residents to pray for their political kingpin, Kalonzo.
Ruto addressed the public at Kasikeu secondary school in Kilome, Makueni County.
"I want you to continue with serious prayers, and remember to pray for my brother Kalonzo," Ruto said.
"The last time I saw him he was seated on a tarmac road in Nairobi after he was mis-advised by other forces. The same Kalonzo who was Vice President, please pray for him," Ruto said.
The DP and Kalonzo have since expressed their interests in the country’s top seat.
Ruto is banking on the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta to beat Kalonzo.
On his part, Kalonzo is confident that time has come for him to rise to power.
He believes he has what it takes to beat Ruto hands down when that time comes.
Kalonzo, on the other hand, is looking up to ODM leader Raila Odinga's political support in 2022.
