Maangi, who was elected alongside James Ongwae on ODM, further said his decision to accompany Ruto to Nyamira was solely due to development prospects by the government.

“I wish to clarify the claims being peddled on social media that I will join Ruto ahead of 2022 politics.

"On Monday, I joined DP Ruto in Nyamira County to launch various development projects for the benefit of the people," he said.

He warned local politicians against spreading lies to members of the public in a move meant to taint his political loyalty.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta agreed to work with our ODM party leader Raila Odinga few months ago.

"The handshake means as leaders we must team up and work together irrespective of the parties we are from. I am not warming up for Jubilee party or Ruto's Tanga Tanga movement,” he told reporters.
