A man's right-hand thumb was chopped by angry residents after he was caught in the act with someone’s wife on Monday evening at Riabigutu village, Nyaribari Masaba, Kisii County.
Joseph Mose who hails from Riamesabisabi Riotungo was caught in the act with the woman, who is his childhood friend but now married to a man in Riabigutu village.
"Mose has been sleeping with the woman for years but he could not take in the warnings from residents and the woman’s husband to stop the bad habit,” said a local Fred Obwocha.
Obwocha said the woman’s husband, Francis Amenya, laid a trap on the man who came to his home pretending to be a visitor only to end up in his bedroom with the wife.
“I have warned the man to leave my wife alone but he could not hear me. I laid a trap because he thought I had gone to work. I saw him entering my home and mobilised residents. We raided the house where we found him naked with my wife. We beat him up and cut off his right hand thumb finger,” he said.
Area assistant chief Job Mogusu said the man was rescued by police officers from Ramasha police station who were on patrol.
Mogusu said men chewing people’s wives should stop failure to which they will be hacked to death.
The chief said the man is currently being admitted at Kenyenya sub-county hospital.
