Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has said Machakos County commander of police Samuel Mukindia should resign with immediate effect.
Makau said the police boss should relinquish his office following demolitions of houses among other structures on the controversial East African Portland Cement Company (EAPCC) land in Athi River, Mavoko Sub County on Thursday.
He addressed the press in Athi River town on Thursday.
Makau condemned the demolitions claiming that due procedures were never followed before they were effected.
He said more than 500 houses belonging to the locals were pulled down during the incident.
Makau said the county commander should be prosecuted in a court of law due to the loss incurred by residents whose houses had been demolished.
He claimed those who effected the demolitions were in contempt of court since there is a pending case in court concerning the same parcel of land.
Makau condemned police officers for being involved in the demolitions.
"Police were everywhere keeping guard as the houses were being brought down, yet there's a case in court concerning the issue. Machakos police commander should resign with immediate effect and be prosecuted," Makau said.
Athi River police boss Sharma Wario confirmed the demolitions but denied claims that police were involved in the exercise.
Wario maintained the land belongs to the cement company unless the court decides otherwise.
