National Treasury and Planning Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich may be weighing options to succeed the Governor Elgeyo Marakwet Eng. Alex Tolgos come 2022.
Rotich who has had an outstanding public service record in which before being promoted to cabinet office in 2013, served as Head of Macroeconomics at the Treasury from 2006.
Rotich was credited with crafting key policy frameworks over years, the under the then minister Robinson Njeru Githae.
Rotich served as Minister of Finance during Kenyatta’s first term in office.
During his first term as CS Finance, he launched the world’s first Treasury bond to be offered exclusively via mobile phone and slashed the minimum investment level in government debt, in a bid to stimulate public participation in the capital markets, raise money cheaply and boost the national savings rate.
With his vast experience in government, Rotich who is touted to fight off with Senator Kipchumba Murkomen is in a pole position to trounce Murkomen and be the second Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet.
With the much support and trust he has received from President Kenyatta, Rotich who has formulated projects to uplift the standards of his county mates to a level the residents aim to use in propelling him through as their Governor.
