Airing his opinion on the ongoing demolitions of condemned structures in the city earlier in the week, the Governor urged the government to let developers ‘move’ rivers to save their marked investments built on river banks from demolition.

However, speaking on Radio Jambo on Saturday, Mwaura who noted that the proposal is undoable lashed out at Waititu’s geography teacher for misleading him.

‘’Tunataka kujua mwalimu wake wa geography alikua nani na ni masomo gani hayo yananayosema mito yaweza songezwa (who was this Geography teacher who taught him that rivers can be moved),’’ said the Senator.

A few days after Waititu made the remarks, his wife Susan Wangare was arrested and charged over allegations of illegal construction.

The ongoing demolitions of buildings on riparian land in Nairobi have since received a clean bill of health from many Kenyans and leaders. However, some have remained opposed to the destruction of the buildings.

The buildings targeted are mainly the ones erected on riparian land and road reserves, with many having already been brought down in the operation which is now entering its third week.

Among the leaders in support of the demolitions is President Uhuru Kenyatta who on Sunday revealed having turned down requests from affected friends to intervene.
