A show down is expected in Nyamira County after a section nurses vowed to block the Cuban Doctors from accessing the facility.
According to the nurses, their move is to ensure that they are paid their two months’ salary that has led to their ongoing strike.
Led by Kenya National Union of Nurses Nyamira secretary Richard Oruta during a press conference on Thursday morning, the nurses said they won’t sit down watch their rights violated as they watch and they will ensure no health service if offered at nay facility by the two Cuban doctors assigned to the County.
“We are demanding our May and June salaries and we expect the money in our accounts before the end of the day and without that we went allow any Cuban Doctor in the County," he said.
However on his part, the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union Nyanza secretary Lameck Omweri pleaded with the county government to intervene the matter as soon as possible and ensure services resume.
“It’s not my wish to see nurses go two months unpaid as they as well have families to take care off and I call upon the County to pay the salaries," said Omweri
