The relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto has been worsening since their reelection in the 2017 elections.

Consequently, Uhuru appears to be drifting towards opposition boss Raila Odinga with whom he reached a truce early last year.

However, despite their apparently weakening bond, Uhuru has remained silent on the said looming fallout, with Ruto's allies bashing him for allegedly planning to ditch the DP.

If that is indeed the case, then Uhuru is very likely to part ways with Ruto upon receiving the report from the 14 member Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce.

The team was formed jointly by Uhuru and Raila to gather Kenyans' ideas on the best way forward regarding the political hostility that usually engulfs the nation during elections.

And with both having endorsed referendum as the best remedy, the taskforce is likely to bring the same as its proposal, though the changes are facing opposition from Ruto's quarters.

Its here that Uhuru and Ruto are likely to part ways, each going to the other side, despite having vowed to remain together until Ruto seizes power in 2022.

This could result in a situation where Raila and Ruto form one team and approach the 2022 polls as a team against Ruto's camp, since the DP and Raila are likely to face off in the race.

Another incident likely to make Uhuru disown Ruto is if he (Ruto) is named anywhere in the ongoing investigations on latest corruption scandals in the country.

The embattled DP has always found himself being mentioned in most of the scandsls and will be in trouble should he be named in any upon completion of investigations.

With Uhuru having repeatedly vowed to punish anyone found guilty of involvement in graft, any slight implication would make him walk out on Ruto whonhas been his ally since 2013.

This means that the separation between the two is a very likely scenario in the near future.
