Nakuru was once ranked among the fastest growing towns in Africa with a 13 percent development rate.
Despite this rating, the town still needs more changes to place it at an even better position in Kenya, East Africa and Africa at large.
These three changes must be done to give the town a facelift
1. Removal of bodabodas and hawkers from the CBD
Although bodabodas are of good help to the people in the town, they don't portray a good image of it.
The business has grown lucrative but the number of riders in the town has now become an eyesore.
The county council should find a way of regulating the number of these operators.
For hawkers, the county government should find them a place to sell their wares.
2. Housing for street children
The fast growth of Nakuru comes with increased number of street children.
To avoid the mess in other towns, the county government should find accommodation for these children before their number become unmanageable.
3. Construction of footpaths and flyovers along the Nakuru-Naivasha highway
Adequate footbridges should be constructed along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway as well as the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
There should also be a flyover to ensure traffic is decogested at the Cigma roundabout. Those vehicles that are not entering the town's CDB, such as those heading to Njoro and Eldoret, should use the flyover to ease traffic.
