A group of politicians drawn from both sides of the political divide on Sunday fired more salvos at the DP over his latest remarks and apparent opposition to the ongoing graft purge.

The team of 12 MPs from both the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) and Jubilee sides accused Ruto of sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta who is leading the campaign.

They were led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda who also took issue with the DP for taking his rebellion further by recruiting some Central Kenya MPs into his team.

“Corruption has reached a point where it should be fought with the vigour that we used to fight for independence. Jubilee is no longer one, because if it were, we could be talking in the same voice as far as the fight against corruption is concerned but that is not the case because a section of Jubilee Party lawmakers [are undermining the President’s agenda],” Kamanda was quoted by the Daily Nation.

The nominated MP was referring to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichungwa who have stuck with Ruto as their fellow Mt Kenya leaders drift away.

They leaders were speaking during a church service at the Halleluiyah Gospel Church in Banana, Kiambu county.

Kathiani lawmaker Peter Mbui said that the anti corruption campaign is a good war which they intend to fight to the end.

The Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) found it unbelievable that some leaders allied to Uhuru are siding with Ruto in frustrating the push.

“We ended the Nasa-Jubilee war. The war that we have now is that between the good people and looters of public money.

It’s shocking that MPs from central Kenya where the President comes from are backing theft of public money,” said Mbui.

Other leaders present included Nyeri Town MP Ngunj Wambugu, Nyando MP Jared Okello, Muturi Kigano (Kengema) and Paul Koinange (Kiambaa).

Others included Mercy Gakuya (Kasarani), Peter Mwathi (Limuru), Stephen Mule (Matungulu) and Maoka Maore of Igembe North.
