A man was on Friday arraigned before a Nakuru court over allegations of selling alcohol to teenage secondary school students.

Andrew Mwangi was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo where he was charged with selling the product to 10 students in Pangani estate, Nakuru East.

The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 11, adding that the students in question were between form 2 and 4 from various schools.

“On 11 April at around 6 pm at Pangani, he sold White house spirit, Hunter and Legend to teenagers with the knowledge that they were minors below 18 years,” read the charge sheet, according to the Standard.

Police claimed that the man was also caught with gadgets believed to have been stolen, alongside two rolls of bhang.

Mwangi denied the charges and was released on Sh100, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount. The next hearing of the case was set for April 18.

“The accused person may be released on a bond of Sh100, 000 or surety of similar amount,” the court ruled.

Meanwhile, the students appeared before Justice Daisy Mose who committed them to the Nakuru Juvenile Remand home pending the arrival of a report from the children's office.

The case will be mentioned on April 23.
