An elderly man has died in Nakuru after his building was marked for demolition by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
The building located at Elimu area along the Nakuru-Nyahururu road is among those to be brought down by bulldozers for being on a road reserve.
The owner of the building is said to have died after news that his hard-earned sweat would be brought down.“He died after the news.
We are counting losses here,” another resident who owns a building along the area said.
A family source who refused to be named confirmed the incident.“We are making funeral arrangements,” the source said.
Tens of buildings starting from White House area along the road all the way to Maili Kumi have been marked for demolition.
Another area that had been hard hit is Mchangaa, where recently built houses will be bulldozed.
Owners have decided to pluck doors, windows, and roofing to avoid absolute loss.
Dubious business people duped innocent buyers into acquiring property along the road and made away with millions.
Greed to own prime property at a cheap means has also left many licking their wounds.
“This man was sold this building and the piece of land at Sh5 million. He did not ask why such a throw-away price,” a resident said in one case where the owner of a building sold it after he got news of being demolished last year.
