A Catholic priest who served at St Peter the Rock Parish in Kinoo, Kiambu County has been shot dead by unknown thugs.
Father John Njoroge was shot dead on Monday morning as he was coming from a bank.
The deceased was accompanied by a member of staff in his parish when they were accosted by the thugs.
The thugs are said to have shot through the windscreen of his Harrier car, with one of the bullets hitting his chest.
He was taken to the Kikuyu Hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival, NTV reports.
It is reported that the thugs made away with an unknown sum of money.
A witness who was at a nearby construction site said he saw four men fleeing the crime scene in two motorbikes.
"I heard a loud sound. Then I saw four men on two motorbikes fleeing the scene. I was then told they had shot someone to death," said the witness.
Kiambu County Police Commissioner Andiel Nyange, who confirmed the incident said police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
