Accompanying him will be local leaders led by area political kingpin and Africa Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development Raila Odinga.

Reports in the Standard indicate that Uhuru who is also expected in Siaya county may visit Raila's Opoda farm home in Bondo, and proceed to Kang'o Ka Jaramogi in Sakwa, ten kilometers away.

Kang'o, home to Raila's father and founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, houses the symposium where Oginga was buried in 1994.

According to the paper, Uhuru will use the visit to express his goodwill and mark the strength of his March 9 reunion, considering that their fathers (Oginga and first President Jomo Kenyatta) were close allies before separating in 1966.

This will be Uhuru's first trip to the Luo Nyanza region after the 2017 elections which saw him battle against the former Prime Minister in the August race, before Odinga boycotted the October rerun.

This led to hostility between the two camps, resulting to the region completely blocking any elections from taking place in the second presidential race.

However, they wiped it off using their handshake on March 9 and vowed to work together for the benefit of the nation henceforth.
