Skipping classes on campus is a common thing, provided one attends 75 per cent of all the lectures.
At Moi University, students like their colleagues in other university find reasons not to make to a class. Some attribute it to lecturers being 'boring' and low lecturing techniques.
Here are the main reasons why some Moi University students skip classes;
1. Recreation
Some students prefer to play games, especially on phones and laptops than going to classes. Other main recreation activities that take precedence of classes are watching movies or television and attending sports.
2. Tired
"I sometimes feel too tired to attend my morning classes, especially on Monday", Precious Jebet, a 3rd-year student at the Kesses-based institution said.
Over the weekend, Moi University students engage themselves in various activities. They go to clubs, revise a lot for exams, visit their friends, to name but a few. This will make them too tired to attend Monday classes. They feel tired and prefer to take a nap.
3. Being with friends
Hanging with friends has always been a wonderful experience. Some students prefer to be with their friends rather than attending classes.
4. Studying and weather
A small percentage of Moi University students will prefer to study than attend a class.
"I better study than attending a boring class," says Vincent, a 2nd-year student.
Weather sometimes affects students from attending classes. The pavements become impassible during rainy seasons. Cold weather makes students skip classes
These are a few main reasons Moi University students don't attend their classes. Some can be avoided.
