Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has again hinted that he may not go for re-election in the 2022 general election.
Sonko says that it is not a must for him to seek re-election as governor in 2022 and that his focus now is to serve Nairobians.
Sonko says that certain political forces are fighting him to derail his development agenda with the 2022 politics in mind.
Speaking at Pumwani Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday, Sonko said that he is fearless and will not be intimidated in his quest to serve Nairobians.
"Some people are fighting me in the name of tainting my future politics, let them know that it is not a must for me to contest for the Nairobi Governor seat in 2022," he said.
Sonko said that his fight against impunity and corruption at the county government has made him an enemy of many people.
Sonko vowed to continue exposing corrupt county officials.
The governor said he will work with relevant agencies in the fight against graft.
In an interview recently Sonko hinted that he could contest for the presidency after the 2022 general election.
