Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has hot out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for alleged intimidation of Deputy President William Ruto through his proxies and the BBI narrative.
Speaking on Saturday in Bomet, Barchok said that Ruto and Uhuru need each other for the sake of the economic empowerment of the people of this nation.
He argued that there is no way the President cannot be allowed to mistreat the second in command in command.
He warned leaders against using the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to cause more divisions in the nation.
"We will not accept BBI to be used to bruise Kenyans. The President must respect his Deputy because the mistreatment once in a while...(Hatutakubali kama BBI itakuwa jambo la kubruise wanakenya. Lazima President aheshimu Deputy wake because mistreatment kidogo ya hapa na pale)" he said in part.
The remarks come after DP Ruto dismissed claims that he was snubbed by the President in Mombasa. Ruto said that he was not in Mombasa at the time Uhuru met top government officials.
“Kenyans should ignore this choreographed, paid-for propaganda nonsense. I was in the office the whole day never in Mombasa,” he tweeted.
There were also claims that the DP was blocked from his official residence in Mombasa.
