According to Otieno, Amb. Amina lacked the thick skin and toughness to take on the pugnacity of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) top brass.

He said that the former Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary diplomatic approach to issues was not appropriate.

"I think that is what Sossion is paid to do but then he's met somebody who's going to counter every move with facts. You see that is why they run Amina out of office, she couldn't work for some time because every thing she tried to do they countered... That is why Uhuru Kenyatta decided a guy like Magoha should come there, " Derrick said during K24's Alfajiri.

His words came amid a stand-off between the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut).

Knut Secretary-General Wilson Sossion railed against the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) described it as worse than colonialism.

The Ministry of Education contends that the CBC is aimed at improving standards of education in the country.

Prof Magoha has maintained that there will be no turning back on the new curriculum.
