Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi addressed the 2nd County Assembly, a year after the second historic general election since the promulgation of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution.
He expressed full confidence that the 2nd Assembly will deliver on its mandate as clearly enshrined in the Constitution.
"I congratulate all the Members of County Assembly on their successful election and nomination to the Honorable County Assembly Chambers. Their presence is a reflection of the choices the people of Kilifi made on the 8th Day of August, 2017," he said on Wednesday.
Kingi commended the Assembly of Kilifi for the unanimous adoption of the Kilifi County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP 2018-2022) during its sitting of Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
Anchored on the national policy and plans as well as international development agenda, the CIDP 2018-2022 presents the people of Kilifi with an opportunity to build on the gains registered under Kingi's first term.
The plan also provides a development roadmap for the County for the period between 2018 and 2022 and outlines the consensus on programmes and projects that the County dovernment and its partners are committed to implement during that period.
Governor Kingi however, challenged the County lawmakers to reflect on the past, the challenges the County has encountered, the opportunities, the successful programmes and focus on what is ahead since the people of Kilifi are anxiously looking up to them to fully represent their interests.
Addressing the House, the second-time governor affirmed that his government is committed to fighting poverty, improving education standards, eradicating diseases, ensuring food security, improving access to clean and safe water, and improving road network amongst others.
"We will not relent in our efforts to create an enabling environment for boosting businesses and tourism, ensure the youth women and persons living with disabilities are given opportunities for business, support industrial development, address land issues and ensure peace and security of our people," the ODM governor said.
