Deputy President William Ruto, though enjoying massive support in his Rift Valley bedrock, is equally grappling with a number of critics.

Though most politicians in the region are in support of both him and his future plans, there exists a group that seems opposed to this.

This is the rebellious trio of lawmakers Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany)

The first remedy would be to deny them airtime and attention. This the DP can achieve by remaining silent and directing his allies to equally not respond to them and their attacks. This way, the group will end up being discouraged and consequently go silent.  Responding to them only makes them stronger, more popular and viewed as a threat to the DP.

In the event that silence is not the best weapon, Ruto can counter them head-on by using their failures in their capacities as lawmakers, weighing it against their manifesto. Using their unfulfilled campaign promises will deny them the moral authority to attack anyone else and though it might appear like a petty move, Ruto will finally have his way.

It is worth noting that DP Ruto has no specific role and is only a deputy to the President as compared to the group which has clearly spelt out responsibilities. Using his allies, Ruto can do this and make the lawmakers look bad in the eyes of Kenyans.

The other technique would be to sponsor powerful challengers against them in the elections and deny them the time to go round attacking the DP. With strong challengers in their necks, it is obvious that the trio will concentrate on trying to win their seats of choose and forget hurling criticisms at Ruto.
