A middle-aged man from Gionseri area in Kisii County has been arrested by the police for hacking his brother with a jembe after the duo disagreed on who should inherit one of their father's prime plot located in Nyamache town.
According to some of the locals who witnessed the ordeal the duo has been quarreling for a while now over who should inherit the land.
"The two brothers named Nemwel Ondieki and Elijah Ondieki started to argue on who should have the land in Nyamache and that led to Nemwel hacking his brother using the jembe on Sunday evening," said Cliff Ogechi who is their neighbor
Ogechi further added that the neighbors rushed to the scene and found Elijah lying down with a pool of blood and took him to the hospital.
Confirming the incident area Chief Obed Kibwage said they have already informed the police and some of the witnesses have already recorded a statement at Nyamache police.
"The man who hacked his brother is still at large and the police have already started making inroads in both villages as well as road stops to ensure he is arrested," said Kibwage.
Kibwage condemned the incident and said they will ensure the necessary action is taken against the man as soon as possible.
