A 28-year-old man shocked villagers after he stabbed his wife of 4 years over sex on Tuesday evening at Gianchere village, Keumbu in Nyaribari Chache constituency in Kisii County.
Neighbors said Douglas Makori stabbed his wife, Debra Nyabate with a kitchen knife after he was denied sex.
“Makori is a violent man who gets angered quickly. He returned home from work and demanded sex. His wife declined since she was busy preparing supper that's when he picked a kitchen knife and stabbed her on the head,” said Eunice Nyabwari.
Area assistant chief, Raymond Okwoyo confirmed the incident and lauded neighbors who responded quickly to Nyabate’s screams.
“Nyabate sustained deep cuts on her head but, neighbors took her to Keumbu hospital where she is currently receiving treatment,” he said.
The chief said the suspect was arrested by residents who surrendered him to Keumbu police station from where he will be taken to court to be charged for assault.
A nurse attending to the victim at Keumbu hospital said Nyabate is out of danger.
