President Uhuru Kenyatta is bound to hold a joint state of the nation address to both the Senate and the National Assembly.

In a statement posted in the Parliament of Kenya Facebook page, the President will address the nation on April 4 pursuant to article 132 (1)(b) of the Constitution which empowers His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Defense forces of Kenya to perform such a function.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta will deliver a state of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday, April 4th at 2:30 pm," read the post

It further read that the Head of State will address the joint sitting pursuant to the constitutional powers.

"This is in Pursuant to article 132(1)(b) of the Constitution which empowers His Excellency the President of Kenya and Commander in a Chief of Defense Forces to perform such a function," it read.

Kenyans expect that President Uhuru Kenyatta will address prevalent issues bedevilling the country like the persistent drought that has hit 12 counties in recent weeks.

President Kenyatta's address will come at a time the country is preparing for the next budget and reading by the Treasury CS.
