ODM leader Raila Odinga has called for speedy investigations into the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno whose lifeless body was discovered at Kodera forest on Tuesday.
Already, police have arrested Migori Governor Okoth Obado's personal assistant who has been linked to abduction of the slain student and subsequent murder.
Speaking at a city hotel on Wednesday during a brainstorming session on the upcoming Migori senatorial by-election, Raila insisted that the government should arrest her killers.
"As a party, we condemn in the strongest terms possible the brutal and cold blooded murder of Sharon Otieno," said a tearful Raila.
He added: "We call for speedy investigations into this incident and hope that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to book and face the full wrath of the law."
Before delivering his speech, Raila had asked all leaders present to observe a moment of silence in honour of the fallen second year student.
Incidentally, the murder came at the time Obado had disowned ODM candidate Ochillo Ayacko, his former gubernatorial competitor to the anguish of the party lieutenants.
Ms. Otieno's mother, Melida Auma, claimed that her daughter was seven months pregnant for the governor and had refused to abort contrary to the governor's wishes.
