Speaking after the meeting, the governor said that there was need to increase the trading and cultural partnership between Kenya and the South African nation, arguing that the distance separating the two countries was very small.

Here is his full statement:

"This evening I attended the Kenya-Mozambique Business forum together with visiting Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi. Kenya and Mozambique are literally neighbours, separated by just one country. There is no reason why we are not bigger trade and cultural partners.

"Our people share the same African spirit of friendliness and hospitality. And we both like nyama choma, or roast meat. The city of Nairobi is unique. We are the only capital that boasts of a game park, and which is a major tourist attraction.

"We are also the home to two United Nations Headquarters, UNEP and UN-HABITAT. With a population of close to 6 million, mostly young people, Nairobi is described as the heartbeat of Eastern Africa. In Nairobi will welcome investors and constantly seek to improve our ease of doing business.

"We have collapsed several licenses into a single business permit and are constantly reviewing and responding to factors that concern local and international investors. I welcome all investors to do business in our city. We have an important role to play in promoting friendly ties between our two nations. Together we can contribute to the rise of Africa as a prosperous, peaceful nation."
