Police in conjunction with education officials in Nakuru County have launched investigations into allegations of an imposter KCPE candidate at a private school in Mbaruk Gilgil.
According to Nakuru county director of education Isaac Atebe, statements have been taken from proprietors of Victory Preparatory Academy and Blessed Child Academy.
He said that the centre manager at Victory Preparatory Academy has also recorded a statement while details of all the candidates taking exams in the centre have also been taken.
“In the morning we received information that there were some candidates who were not identified at Victory Preparatory School and after visiting the institution, we found out that the centre was hosting two schools (Victory Preparatory Academy and Blessed Child Academy). Statements have been taken from both schools and investigations are ongoing,” said Atebe.
The education officer added that Blessed Child Academy was combined with Victory preparatory because the school had only 13 candidates instead of the minimum15 as prescribed by KNEC.
Victory Preparatory has 16 candidates but one did not show up.
Atebe said that they are yet to ascertain the reason why the candidate did not show up.
The absence of the candidate raised suspicion with initial reports indicating that the candidate could be a class seven pupil who was to write the exam in the name of another student.
Atebe said that they are yet to confirm the allegations adding that a conclusive answer will be given latest Wednesday morning upon investigations.
Rift Valley regional director of education Jane Gaturu said that they are taking no chance adding that they have advised all candidates and centre managers to be cautious at all times.
