The motion was moved by the County Assembly Leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi.

The Assembly directed the Executive to instead use the Sh300 million already budgeted for to construct modern offices on existing county land.

"The county government should identify an appropriate piece of land belonging to the county for the construction, and the Controller of Budget should be informed so that no money meant for the purchase of the National Bank building is released," said Lowoi.

"No future budgeting should be done for the same," added the majority leader.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Speaker Hosea Korir while seconding the motion said there are legal issues surrounding the ownership of the National Bank land which could put taxpayers' money at risk.

On his part, Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA Gilbert Tenai supported the motion noting that the county's Lands CeC while defending the planned purchase of the building before the County Assembly was not sure about the figures, adding that the Assembly has to rely on accurate figures.

Speaker David Kiplagat who presided over the session said his office will move with speed to ensure that the resolution of the House is adhered to.
