President Uhuru Kenyatta has been praised by Kenyans following the Sunday's night historic inaugural direct flight between Nairobi and New York city in the US.
"It is historic for Kenya's aviation sector to witness the inaugural direct flight between Nairobi and New York finally take off. The direct air link between our country and the US present great opportunities in trade, tourism and people-to-people relations," He posted on Twitter.
Kenyans across the country in solidarity have congratulated President Uhuru for the historic move as Kenya will now be the 7th Sub-Saharan Africa country to have a direct non-stop flight link to the US after S. Africa, Ghana, Ethiopia, Cape Verde and Nigeria.
"This picture of the Kenya Airways Direct Flight from Nairobi to New York broke my wife and I in tears! We are proud of you and the people of Kenya for this historic moment! We praise God for this opportunity! USA and Kenya are great partners! We are excited to welcome KA in USA," Replied Dr.Nicholas Muteti on Twitter.
"UKenyatta God bless you in your regime I have seen a lot of development take place improved roads, electricity up to my village, improved security,the famous SGR, and now direct flight to America. God bless you and your able principal assistant @WilliamsRuto you were truly sent," Tweeted Mkibagendi.
The direct flight is a clear indication that Kenya is a safe country. The KQ Flight is expected back in the country on Tuesday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
