Over the past few years, there has been an increase in cases of robbery, with most of the robbers stealing money, cell phones, laptops and other portable electrical devices.

As they say security starts with you, it doesn't mean you have to acquire a firearm, but only need to be cautious when walking during the night.

Here are some of the areas you should avoid visiting in Kisumu after 9:00 PM:

1. Manyatta

Manyatta is one of the slums in Kisumu city. It is home to many unemployed youth who struggle to make ends meet.

The lack of employment has made some of the youth to engage in criminal activities as a source of livelihood.

A few weeks ago, a man was stubbed to death by robbers in the area. You have to be extra cautious when you walk at night in Manyatta.

2. Kondele

Kondele is another area that hosts a large population of unemployed youth.

These youth are always the first to start demonstrations and protests.

Despite there being a police station in Kondele, insecurity is alarming.

3. Nyalenda

The area is notorious for youth who snatch handbags and mobile phones from residents immediately darkness comes.

It is advisable to seek company while walking in these areas at night.

4. Car Wash

The estate is one of the most dreaded in Kisumu over claims that it hosts hardcore criminals.

5. Migosi

Migosi area closes the list of the places to avoid at night. Despite being well lightened, robbers will follow you at night and when you walk in paths with no light, they tiptoe behind you, and hit you with a blunt object on your head. They make sure you collapse before they steal from you.
