The third-term lawmaker now only needs to declare her interest in the seat, after which her ascent to the same will be a walk in the park.

This follows a terrible miscalculation by the two persons currently considered the front-runners in the race; Suba South lawmaker John Mbadi and Homabay Women Representative Gladys Wanga.

Choosing to back the additional tax on petrol and its products in Thursday’s dramatic National Assembly sitting, the duo has just refuted the admiration and support they enjoyed in the opposition bedrock.

Considering that Kenyans are already struggling with current taxes and high cost of living, they are very unlikely to vote for people who are in support of a scheme to further oppress them vie extra costs in fuel and transportation.

Mbadi, though quite compelled to stick to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) support of the same, being the party c hair, went overboard by even leading his Suna East counterpart Junet Mohammed and Wanga out to kill quorum in the house.

This rendered him an automatic political reject and a possible failure in his future bids.

The same is the case on the side of Wanga who has for a long time been considered an activist for Kenyans' well being, a tag she might have an uphill task regaining after Thursday's miscalculation.

Odhiambo, on the other hand, stood up against the extra tax, automatically becoming a darling of Kenyans, most specifically her Homabay constituents.

She even embarked on an attempts to manually record the names of present members in the house at the time, after the electronic tally which was allegedly manipulated read a wrong tally, a move she says was aimed at sabotaging their attempts to reject the proposal.

Speaking on Radio Jambo Friday morning, Millie noted that she took it upon herself to write down the names of all the present members, a demonstration of how committed she was to saving Kenyans from the new burden.

This resulted from a move by National Assembly Aden Duale to lead a section of lawmakers out to kill quorum and prevent the house from attaining the 233 members needed to overturn the tax proposal. Duale's brigade included the ODM trio.

And due to that, she is most likely to beat the two should they face off in the Homabay gubernatorial race in 2022, with or without the ODM backing. The seat is currently held by Governor Cyprian Awiti.
