Renowned blogger Robert Alai has blasted Education CS Prof George Magoha over his stand on the implementation of the new education curriculum.
This is after the CS threatened to 'crush anybody who will play politics' with the implementation of the 2-6-3-3-3 system, which he launched on Tuesday.
Known as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), the new system will replace the 8-4-4 system which was launched in January 1985.
Alai said Magoha, who has been in office for less than two months, was mishandling issues in his new docket and noted his major weakness was the failure to consult even in crucial programmes such the new curriculum.
"Magoha will mess (up) the education ministry. In this ministry, you don't use thorax most of the time. These decisions involve the livelihoods and lives of our kids.
Nobody will allow you to bulldoze your stupidity. Consult bwana CS," the blogger tweeted on Thursday.
Expressing similar sentiments, former presidential candidate Prof James Ole Kiyiapi asked Magoha to involve all key stakeholders in the education sector to achieve success in his docket.
"Education is inherently about society, about inclusion and must involve all key actors: students, teachers, parents, Government, leadership, community and other advocates.
Ministry should rally these actors and capitalize on their collective wisdom. Ownership is crucial!" he said.
Kiyiapi served as Education Assistant Minister during the tenure of retired President Mwai Kibaki.
