As the deadline for the mass registration for Huduma Namba hits, National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) in Malindi sub-county has registered about 178,000 people, which is approximately 70% of the target.
According to Malindi Assistant Deputy Commissioner, John Kipsiwa, NIIMS had targeted about 249,000 people in the area, saying that lack of required documents by most residents for the registration and people with damaged fingerprints contributed to delays.
Kipsiwa maintained that the registration of 178,000 people was achieved through intensive mobilization through chief barazas, adding that there were zero reported cases of corruption by agents in the area, however, urging residents to report any cases witnessed.
On the issue of the deadline, Kipsiwa said on Friday, “I encourage the public not to panic on the deadline issue. Huduma Namba is a continuous free-of-charge process.”
He said that residents yet to be registered are still eligible and that they can get the service at their nearest chief’s office.
“Residents should not ignore this, it’s through Huduma Namba that a citizen can access government services very fast,” he said, adding that, “Huduma Nambat will eliminate corruption instances as Kenyans seek government services.”
Additionally, records from Kilifi County Commissioner, Magu Mutindika, point that NIIMS has so far registered over 945,000 people in the county
