Even as those eyeing the seat continue to put in place their strategies, a section of Kesses residents are suggesting that their first term Member of Parliament Dr Swarup Mishra is in a better position to take over after governor Mandago when his tenure comes to the end in 2022.

“So far we have experienced what he has delivered as he had pledged during his campaigns. If he will say that he will vie for governor seat in 2022 then we shall support him,” said Mark Kipchoge, a resident of Kesses.

Paul Korir, a local politician on his part notes that despite Jubilee legislator being a foreigner, he has won the hearts of the locals with his philanthropic character.

“He has assisted many constituents, attending fundraisers for medication and building churches. There is nothing that can hinder him because he has endeared himself to electorates beyond his constituency,” said Korir.

The Indian-origin parliamentarian, notably known as Arap Chelulei debuted to politics few years to 2017 general elections and thwarted son of the long-serving veteran politician Allan Kosgei among other contestants who vied for the Kesses parliamentary seat.

Andrew Matelong’ however differed with fellow residents saying that the vocal lawmaker cannot make it to top county office pointing out that the constituency politics are not invariable to county political landscape.

“Mishra can politically do better in his constituency, Uasin Gishu is geographically big and politics vary based on natives who reside in each of the six sub-counties,” Matelong’ said.
