Nakuru County on Tuesday afternoon passed a motion of impeachment against Roads and Infrastructure CEC Eng Lucy Kariuki.
The motion was tabled by assembly's Committee on Transport chairperson Michael Chege Machembu of Ndundori ward.
According to Chege, the committee has made several summonses to the said Eng Kariuki but she did not show up even after a series of demonstrations by residents of Nakuru County citing poor road infrastructure and security lighting.
“We have no otherwise but to pass this motion. We have made attempts at summoning the CEC but she did not show up” said Machembu.
The MCAs added that Eng Kariuki has been turning down proposals made by residents during public participation within the county and she has been giving the MCAs hard time to deliver services in their areas.
The fate of the CEC will now be determined by a different committee which has seven days to listen to her defence before the ouster.
Leaders in Nakuru County Assembly have vowed to oust her on the basis that she has been a major let down in the development of the county's rural and urban security and infrastructure.
