One suspect has been arrested in connection to an incident in Likia, Njoro in which a man was killed at dawn on Thursday over livestock theft.
Speaking in the tension prone area following the incident, County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha also said a phone had been recovered.
The County Commissioner who led a team of security agents to the area warned those inciting communities against each in the area that they will face the law.
“We can confirm that one person was killed at dawn on Thursday while tracking stolen livestock. We treat this as robbery and not a community issue and we shall not tolerate incitement. We have summoned area politicians to come and tell us what they know,” said the county commissioner.
He added that already two sheep have been recovered and that the security agents will continue with patrol to recover the missing body parts of the deceased as well as the missing eight sheep.
“This is a matter that we are following up as security agents and we call on the communities to remain calm but also give out any information that might be of help,” said Barua.
However there was drama following an exchange of bitter word between area MP Charity Kathambi and former MP Joseph Kiuna.
The two accusing each other over the tension in the area.
Then came the area OCS who was drunk and the OCPD had to act and send the OCS away.
Earlier in the day locals had blocked the Njoro-Mau Narok road protesting slow action by the police.The residents claim the 35-year-old man was tracking the stolen sheep after an alarm was raised at 2am on Thursday.
"The young man was stabbed in the stomach and neck with a machete by the rustlers as he traced the animals," said a Mr Maina.
Confirming the incident Njoro OCPD Charity Dorcas said the man was stabbed by youths who stole the goats belonging to the slain man’s neighbor.
