Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has received a temporary reprieve after the High Court gave orders stopping the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission from raiding and searching his property.
In the orders Thursday morning, Justice Hedwig Ongudi asked the EACC to halt the searches till next week when it will be determined whether to grant search permissions or not.
Kidero had through his lawyer Tom Ojienda accused the anti-graft commission of harassment and attempting to paralyse his business operations.
“EACC claims it is undertaking investigations and valuations on the properties and establishments, and in the process has sought to register restrictions on some of the properties without giving sufficient notice to Dr Kidero or the companies as required by law,” Ojienda said.
The former Nairobi governor is among key people in whom the EACC has put a keen interest in the fight against corruption.
