Moments after the election of Oparanya as the fourth CoG chair complains emerged from Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya who cried foul citing being shortchanged by Jubilee party.

The latter maintained that there was an agreement that he would replace the immediate former Chair and Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok.

However, Mvurya has been bashed by his Tharaka Nithi counterpart Muthomi Njuki in what now seems like a battle pitting leaders from the ruling Jubilee Party.

Njuki has urged him to drop the opposition and support the new chair.

"Those who lost have the only option of accepting defeat and having a handshake with those who were elected," Njuki who landed the Agriculture Committee Chair was quoted by the Nation.

He spoke during the launch of a road improvement project in Mbiroini Village, Maara Constituency.

He came out to defend Oparanya who is the Deputy Party Leader of the rival Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

However, Mvurya says that ana agreement was struck in 2017 which indicated that he would be deputized by Kirinyaga county boss Anne Waiguru upon the exit of Nanok.

Oparanya will be deputized by his Muranga counterpart Mwangi Was Iria.
