The growers claimed that Sacco officials have been missing from their offices for the last two weeks now.

"I have been selling my tea leaves to Kebirigo tea factory and all my money is supposed to be paid through Nyamira tea Sacco. I have not been able to get my last month's money including the bonus. Efforts to reach the Sacco officials to get an explanation of why my money is yet to be paid has been in vain," said one of the angry growers John Nyamongo.

Nyamongo claimed that his wife has threatened to divorce him because he is no longer supportive in the family.

"My wife wants to return to her parents home since I have not bought her and my kids Christmas clothes. It is time the Sacco releases farmers money," he added.

Mark Ong'uti, another farmer urged Nyamira leaders to intervene so that the Sacco can pay farmers.

"Our leaders led by Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama should push the Sacco to pay us our money failure to which we will protest to have the Sacco officials arrested," said Ong'uti.
