Daniel Juma, an aspirant in the looming Ugenya parliamentary by election now wants opposition leader Raila Odinga to retire from active politics.
Speaking on Tuesday, the hopeful took a swipe at the former Prime Minister for blocking the entry of a new political generation.
He insinuated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader has been in politics for too long, yet he has nothing to show for it, wondering why he is unwilling to exit.
"Pale Siaya kuna mwanasiasa mmoja ambaye aliingia siasa akiwa na miaka 27 lakini sasa amezeekea palepale na anaelekea miaka 75. Amegeuza Siaya ikawa kama mali yake," he said.
(Why would a man who joined politics at 27 refuse to exit yet he is already approaching 75? He is growing old but is still holding on and making Siaya his personal property).
The former ODM life member who has since decamped to the Grand Dream Development Party (GDDP) was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Tuesday morning.
He advised that politics should be a side hustle and not a profession as Kenyan politicians have turned it to be.
He noted that the same has resulted to some people using their positions to steal public coffers as they have no other job.
"Siasa inafaa iwe kazi ya kando na sio kazi ya pekee. Watu wasiitumie kula mali ya umma," he opined.
(Politics should not be a full time job its better if it remains a side job)
Raila has dominated Siaya and Nyanza politics since the death of his father and founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga in 1994.
His party aspirant Chris Karan is among the frontrunners in the Ugenya race, and will be battling it out with among others, Juma.
