In a past article, we revealed to you some of the tricks some fake beggars employ to make crazy cash effortlessly.
From using sick children to coming to the streets with their own sympathizers, a fake beggar will go to any height just to lure members of the public into dropping those coins that many see as a baggage to their pockets.
Street begging has undoubtedly been a common phenomenon across many Kenyan towns and cities since time immemorial but just like many other things, it has evolved with time to be what it is today.
Begging is no longer a thing for the weak, handicapped, sick or the impoverished members of our society.
For instance, some crooked people have found a business opportunity in this 'industry' and even go the extent of sourcing 'professional' beggars from the neighbouring countries.
Others are physically and mentally fit lazybones who wants to lay on the streets all day posing as destitute to attract your sympathy and coins.
This was the case recently when one keen passerby uncovered a fake beggar at a Thika Town street leading him to break into a split marathon to save his dear life.
Social Media users have reacted differently to the video uploaded on Facebook with some saying that many of the beggars on the streets are not genuine and should be cleared off the streets.
Others, however, say that there are many genuine beggars who have no other means of living apart from begging for alms.
