The commission, on Thursday, asked the National Assembly to put in place measures to ensure corruption is a thing of the past.

Addressing various stakeholders during the handing over of assets recovered from illegal owners in Nakuru, EACC Chairperson Archbishop (Rtd) Eliud Wabukala said that life imprisonment could be one of the best ways to end the vice in this nation.

He noted that the country has lagged behind in terms of development because of massive graft in different offices.

He noted that the adoption of life imprisonment is likely to reduce cases of corruption in the government.

“I support the idea that we impose a life sentence in prison for anybody found (guilty) of corruption,” said Wabukala, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

He also said that stringent measures will ensure Kenyans refrain from engaging in corrupt dealings in the near future.

He further opined that the commission is ready to use various strategies to protect corrupt officials from looting what belongs to the taxpayers.

“The commission resolve to fight corruption through various strategies has been strengthened through the policy, legal and institutional framework on Anti-Corruption in line with the provisions of the Constitution,” he added.

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak stated that they will not relent on the war against corruption.
